Somalia: Body of civil aviation official found in Mogadishu amid airspace control row

MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – The body of civil aviation official was found in his house near Mogadishu airport, police said on Sunday amid escalating row between Somalia’s federal government and Somaliland authorities over control of the country’s airspace.

The official identified as Abdinasir Muse Abdirahman, 32, who comes from the break-away region of Somaliland was at his residence in El Qalow neighborhood in the Somali capital.

Police say they have arrested six suspects amid an ongoing investigation, adding that they have also recovered evidence found at the scene.

Somaliland authorities sent condolences to the family and friends of the late aviation official, saying that they are urgently reviewing the situation of employees with the Somali civil aviation authority who come from the region.
