Israel’s national carrier says flights over Somalia airspace suffer disruptions

MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Israel’s national carrier EI AI said flights over Somalia suffered disruptions in their radio connections amid airspace control row between the federal government and authorities of the break-away region of Somaliland, Times of Israel reported on Sunday.

EI AI said disruption on radios on a plane to Thailand over Somaliland did not affect the flight and was not targeted just at the Israeli airline.

It came after moves by Somali government to turn back several planes suspected of carrying Ethiopian VIP delegations heading to Hargeisa triggered a row with the break-away region, which is currently engaging in VHF interference with flights over the country’s airspace.
