Somalia

MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – The United Arab Emirates said on Sunday the fourth military officer died from injuries sustained in an Al-Shabaab-claimed attack on a military academy in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu on Saturday.

The UAE identified officers killed in the assault as Colonel Mohamed Al Mansouri, Mohamed Al Shamsi, Khalifa Al Balushi and Suleiman Al Shehhi.

A plane carrying the bodies of the Emirati military officials landed at an airport in Abu Dhabi on Sunday.

The United States, Djibouti and Qatar condemned the attack claimed by Al-Shabaab insurgents. The rebel group said it had killed at least 17 officers, including Abu Dhabi’s highest-ranking military official in south Somalia.
