MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s former President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo on Monday congratulated Kenya’s new President William Ruto on election win.
He was joined by his ally Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, who also sent a message of congratulations to the new President of Kenya, expressing hope that the two nations would ensure closer cooperation.
Both Farmajo and Abiy had frosty ties with the administration of Kenyan outgoing President Uhuru Kenyatta and Ruto’s win could be a new chapter for the relations between Kenya and Ethiopia.
Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who has recently lifted a ban on Kenyan Khat imports as a campaign boost for Raila Odinga at the expense of Ruto, has not yet congratulated the new leader of Kenya.
