MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Friday declared war against Ethiopia, saying the neighboring Horn of Africa nation is an existential and historic enemy of his country.
Speaking at a mosque in the presidential complex, Mohamud vowed to defend Somalia against any Ethiopian aggression, promising that his government will not allow ceding an inch of the Somali territory to a foreign government.
Despite Somalia’s ongoing civil war, Mohamud said his government is still able to fend off an Ethiopian invasion while battling Al-Shabaab insurgents.
Mohamud made a public call to arms to defend Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Ethiopia will be held responsible for the consequences of its actions and Somalia will take mighty vengeance if Ethiopia goes ahead with its planned annexation of parts of the country’s north along the Red Sea, he added.
