MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – At least two people were killed and several others wounded after fighting erupted between US-trained Danab special forces and Hirshabelle regional police in the town of Jowhar on Friday, Caasimada Online news website reported.
The gunfight came after the US-trained forces opened fire inside the town, triggering a gunfight with regional police.
Hirshabelle police earlier warned the elite force against opening fire in the town, saying such incidents could weaken efforts to secure the town and its environs.
Somali federal government and Hirshabelle leadership have not yet commented on the development, which comes amid escalating tensions in Hirshabelle capital.
