Somalia’s president dismisses special envoy for stabilization and civilian protection

Somalia

MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Sunday dismissed his special envoy for stabilization and civilian protection Mohamed Abdi Ware, replacing him with MP Omar Ibrahim Hashi.

The envoy is assigned with leading efforts to stabilize areas recaptured from militants during an offensive against Al-Shabaab.

It has not been immediately clear what caused the dismissal of Waare, who has been a key ally of President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and a staunch supporter of his military campaign against insurgents.
