MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Following a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre, Somalia’s cabinet said on Thursday attacks by the Al-Qaeda-aligned militant group Al-Shabaab declined by 70 percent after authorities introduced new security measures.
In a statement, Somali cabinet said 80 towns and villages have been recovered in military operations against the Al-Qaeda affiliate.
The assertion came days after reports emerged of attempts by members of the Somali parliament to table a motion of no-confidence against the Prime Minister, accusing him of ineptitude and failure to deliver on his pledges.
