MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – US President Joe Biden on Wednesday appointed career diplomat Richard Riley as the new ambassador to Somalia as Washington increases its support to Somali and regional troops fighting militants.
Riley, who is currently a senior diplomat at the US embassy in Ottawa, Canada, previously worked in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, China and Russia.
He is replacing ambassador Larry Andre who has been in Somalia since January last year.
