MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Sunday told new army graduates in the town of Baidoa to get ready for a new offensive against Al-Shabaab in Southwest state.
Mohamud said military operations will begin in the restive region soon after troops dislodge rebels from large swathes of territory in the central states of Hirshabelle and Galmudug.
His remarks have come days after insurgents killed scores of soldiers, including a US-trained senior military official in a dawn attack on a base in the central state of Galmudug.
