Djibouti’s president arrives in Mogadishu on three-day visit

MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Djibouti’s President Ismael Omar Geelle arrived in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu on Wednesday where he was welcomed by Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and other government officials.

Geelle is expected to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony of Somali Language Academy constructed in Mogadishu.

A curfew was imposed in the city and flights at Adan Adde Airport were cancelled prior to the arrival of the Djiboutian delegation, in what Somali authorities said was part of efforts to safeguard security of the visiting head of state.

In a joint press conference, Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud said they would hold talks on key issues of mutual interest. Geelle stressed that his government’s support for an ongoing offensive against Al-Shabaab would be among issues to be discussed.
