MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud arrived in Washington to attend the US-Africa Leaders Summit, his press office said on Monday, days after participating in China-Arab summit in Saudi Arabia.
It is his second visit to the United States since he was re-elected in May.
The President is expected to meet with Somali diaspora communities in Minnesota before wrapping up his visit to brief them about the current situation of their homeland and ongoing conflict.
Mohamud’s critics have accused him of spending millions of dollars in dozens of overseas trips, including some unnecessary visits, while hunger haunts millions of Somalis in drought-ravaged areas of the war and poverty-stricken Horn of Africa nation.
