MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is set to travel to war’s frontlines in the central regions of the country in an effort to bolster a slowing offensive against the Al-Qaeda-linked Al-Shabaab militants, state TV reported on Saturday.

The President, who is also the commander in chief of the armed forces, is expected to visit frontlines in Galmudug and Hirshabelle regions, days after reports emerged of military setbacks that have slowed operations to advance into Al-Shabaab hinterland in the two central states.

Mohamud, who declared an all-out war against militants following his re-election in May, will address members of the army and clan militias, according to state-affiliated media.
