MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s government said on Thursday it had banned labor export to Middle Eastern and other overseas countries after receiving reports that workers were being illegally trafficked abroad.
In a directive by the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Bihi Iman Ige, authorities said the ban had taken effect on Tuesday and the government revoked licenses for all labor export companies, stopping them to operate in the country.
Authorities warned labor export companies against enlisting local workers and trafficking them abroad.
