MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Burundian troops under AMISOM peacekeeping mission in Somalia have shot dead a civilian woman near the town of Mahaday in the Middle Shabelle region in retaliation for a roadside bomb explosion, months after killing her husband.
Reports say the woman was shot dead at point-blank range inside her home by Burundi’s AMISOM troops, after they were targeted by a roadside bomb explosion on the outskirts of Burane town.
Local residents told media that the woman was raising children for whom she was the only income earner after her husband was killed by AMISOM troops.
The incident comes a few weeks after AMISOM troops killed at least 7 civilians in Mogadishu’s Hiliwa district in revenge for a roadside bomb attack that targeted an AU military convoy heading to the capital city.
