HARGEISA (Somaliguardian) – Somaliland security forces arrested three Nigerians, who had been creating counterfeit US currency, and confiscated their equipment, the head of the break-away region’s Immigration Department Mohamed Osman Alin told a press conference on Tuesday.
Security forces were following movement of three three men for quite some time before arresting them from three different locations, he added.
Authorities busted another counterfeit gang in the break-away state weeks earlier.
Mr Alin said they have no evidence so far that the counterfeiters had made fake Somaliland currency, adding that their actions could have undermined the region’s economy.
