Somalia PM Backtracks on Pursuit of Justice for Murdered Spy, Senator Says

Somali PM

MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble has backtracked on his promise to pursue justice in the murder of a female intelligence officer Ikran Tahlil Farah, Professor Abdi Ismael Samatar – who has recently been elected to the Senate – said on Wednesday.

Following his visit to Qatar, the Premier struck an agreement with the president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo in which ending probe into the murder case is believed to have been part of its terms.

Mr Samatar says the move that the probe team exonerated those alleged to have been behind the murder was a testament of his new decision following Qatar’s visit.

Ikran Tahlil’s family urged both the President and Prime Minister not to stonewall efforts aimed at finding justice in the disappearance of their daughter and described claims by the spy agency as a smoke screen.
