MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Police in Somalia’s capital Mogadishu on Sunday used live ammunition to disperse protest against an attack on the residence of former army officer General Shegow and his subsequent arrest.

Protesters marched through the streets of the capital demanding the immediate release of the former army officer, saying that his detention was an orchestrated hate crime against marginalized communities.

At least 3 people were killed and 9 others wounded when security forces attacked the residence of General Shegow on Saturday night. Police accused him of hosting renegade soldiers involved in theft, money laundering and other crimes.
