Kenya’s Foreign Minister Arrives in Somalia

MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Kenya’s foreign minister Raychelle Omamo has arrived in Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu on Sunday for talks amid talk of a trip to the Kenyan capital, Nairobi by Somali prime minister Mohamed Hussein Roble, weeks after the two countries restored bilateral relations.

Somali foreign minister Mohamed Abdirizak who received his Kenyan counterpart as she landed at Mogadishu’s Adan Adde airport said her visit represents a “revitalized beginning for us as we seek to foster our diplomatic and bilateral ties”.

“for enhanced talks on further strengthening our relations”, he added.

The two will discuss a number of bilateral and regional issues, including lifting a ban on Kenyan Khat exports to Somalia, months after diplomatic row between the countries led to the suspension.

Ms Omamo is also expected to pay a courtesy call on Somalia’s current acting president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, among other officials.
