Somalia: Bashir Gobe Takes Charge of NISA Finances

Bashir Gobe

MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Acting spy chief Bashir Gobe, who had been named by the Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble last week to head the Somali National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), took charge of the agency’s finances as tensions over the sacking of his predecessor still remain unresolved.

The Minister of Finance Abdirahman Bayle following the order of the Premier handed over agency’s finances to Bashir Gobe, a move that may further embolden Roble’s purge against spy officials allied with the President over the murder of a female staffer.

Hours after securing funds for his operations as the new NISA boss, Bashir Gobe dismissed spy head for the capital, Yasin Farey – a man who had been picked by the President to head the intelligence services.

Due to service to the nation, from today 15.09.2021, I appointed Colonel: Muhidin Mohamed Jimale (Warba’) as the NISA director of the capital,” Bashir Gobe said in a statement on Wednesday.

The President’s side has been on a loosing streak since the Prime Minister ramped up efforts to find justice for slain female spy and sacked key allies of the president, in an attempt to counter obstruction of justice in the murder case.
