MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somali army and troops from neighboring countries of Ethiopia, Djibouti and Kenya will start a new offensive against Al-Qaeda-linked Al-Shabaab militants, security advisor for Somali Prime Minister Kamal Kutale has said.
The official told VOA that the offensive operations will begin during the Holy month of Ramadan to take large swathes of territory still held by rebels in south and central Somalia.
Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has recently attended the graduation of three thousand Somali soldiers in Uganda, who are set to participate in the upcoming military operations.
