GAROWE (Somaliguardian) –Somalia’s federal and regional leaders have reached an agreement over a number of issues following meeting held in the town of Dhusamareb in the country’s Galgadud region.
Leaders of Puntland, Hirshabelle, Jubaland, Southwest, Galmudug and the federal government have finally agreed to bring an end tensions on upcoming elections by creating a joint committee to recommend the best election models viable in accordance with the circumstances in the country.
Among the other issues agreed during the meeting include holding timely elections to save the country from constitutional and political crisis, and hold another meeting in Dhusamareb within two weeks.
A communiqué issued following the closing ceremony of Dhusamareb meeting, notes that Somalia’s political stakeholders have agreed to find a resolve to souring relations between some federal member states and the government of president Farmajo.
This is the first agreement of its kind reached at a time tensions are dramatically high as many predicted that the country’s incumbent leadership was seeking to serve beyond their term as delay in election still seems unavoidable.
