MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – The prime minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson lauded Somalia’s prime minister Mohamed Hussein Roble for his leadership in the upcoming elections following a meeting on Thursday in the margins of Global Education Summit held in London.
It said the summit aims to raise at least $5bn in five years to transform education in world’s most vulnerable countries, including Somalia.
“I’m very pleased that Prime Minister Roble was able to attend the Global Education summit and meet Prime Minister Johnson. Without access to schooling and effective teaching, many children are at risk of falling behind and dropping out of education permanently,” UK ambassador to Somalia Kate Foster said in a statement.
“The UK will continue to support Prime Minister Roble and the Somali government in their commitment to ensuring Somali children have access to good education.”
The Somali prime minister also met with the UK foreign Secretary Dominic Raab, discussing upcoming elections scheduled to be held in the Horn of Africa country and security in the region.
