MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Heavy fighting between Somaliland troops and local forces erupted in the town of Lasanod on Sunday with combatants from both sides claiming victory.
In a statement, Somaliland authorities said terrorists and troops from the neighboring Puntland administration launched attacks on bases housing its troops outside the war-hit city, but did not give evidence for the claim.
Videos circulated online showed Somaliland deploying hundreds of fresh troops and tanks outside the town following weeks-long clashes that left hundreds of people dead and tens of thousands displaced.
