NAIROBI (Somaliguardian) – Kenya says it plans to reopen a key border crossing with Somalia for the first time in more than a decade following talks between the two countries’ authorities.
Talks and high-level consultations between Mogadishu and Nairobi are nearing conclusion to reopen the Mandera border post, according to Kenyan Internal Security Minister.
Speaking during a visit to the town of Mandera, Kenya’s Security Minister Kithure Kindiki said the reopening of the key border crossing will help improve security and prevent cross-border crimes.
