MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s government arrested 10 alleged Al-Shabaab spies working in a number of security agencies, Minister of Information Daud Aways said on Friday, weeks after deadly suicide blast at military academy stirred suspicion.

The minister added that two other suspects, he identified as Abdisatar Abdulkadir and Ayanle Mohamed, escaped.

Aweys told a press conference in Mogadishu that authorities are planning a new joint offensive against Al-Shabaab to dislodge the group from vast swathes of territory it controls in south and central Somalia.

Troops from the neighboring countries of Ethiopia, Djibouti and Kenya will participate in the military operations who will then return to their countries after completing their tasks in a short period of time, Aweys added.
