MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Puntland opposition on Tuesday condemned a vote in which regional parliament approved changes to the constitution, which government critics say are aimed at extending the term in office of the current President Saeed Abdullahi Deni.
Amid escalating tensions in the northeastern Somali semi-autonomous region, regional opposition leader Hassan Shire Abgal said the move was an attempt to disrupt efforts by traditional leaders to mediate an end to the crisis in the region.
