KHARTOUM (Somaliguardian) – Ethiopian ambassador in Sudan Yibeltal Aemro returned home on Friday by air after the Sudanese security authorities prevented him from traveling by land, Sudanese media reported on Sunday as border tensions between the two countries continue to simmer.
Ethiopia and Sudan have recently been trading accusations, with Sudanese authorities saying Ethiopian militias backed by federal troops have been carrying out attacks on areas inside its territory while the government of Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed asserts that Sudan’s army entered its “sovereign territory”.
The Sudanese government has not yet confirmed reports that it refused the Ethiopian ambassador to leave the country by land.
Ethiopian government has not immediately commented on reports that its ambassador in Khartoum was prevented from traveling by land to return to Addis Ababa.
