MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – The son of Somalia’s incumbent President Mohamed Hassan Sheikh Mohamud killed a Turkish motorcyclist identified as Yunus Emre in Istanbul road accident on November 30, Turkish media reported.
Mohamed was driving a car registered to the Somali Consulate near Eurasia Tunnel’s exit when the accident occurred, resulting in fatal injuries to Yunus Emre, who later succumbed to the wounds at Istanbul Training and Research Hospital.
The family of the victim expressed concerns over contradicting police reports and the release of Mohamed on bail, voicing fear that the moves were potentially influenced by the diplomatic immunity of the Somali President’s son.
