Somalia’s president arrives in Uganda ahead of conference on ATMIS peacekeepers

MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Wednesday arrived in Uganda’s capital Kampala, where a conference between the leaders of the countries contributing their troops to the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) is scheduled to be held.

The meeting, which will be held at the request of Somali president, will have the attendance of the leaders of Uganda, Burundi, Ethiopia, Djibouti and Kenya.

The leaders will discuss fighting against Al-Shabaab and efforts to retake large swathes of territory still under the control of the Al-Qaeda affiliate.
