MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is planning to form an alliance against the leader of the northeastern semi-autonomous region of Puntland following months-long dispute, Caasimada Online news website reported on Tuesday.
Mohamud has earmarked funds for bringing together opposition leaders against Deni in an attempt to pressure the belligerent leader, whose regional government refused to participate in recent talks between federal and regional leaders.
Puntland earlier said the regional government would not cooperate with the federal leadership and would operate as an entity which is entirely separate from the Somali federal authorities.
