MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Rival troops are building up in northern Somalia’s Lasanod town amid growing calls for Somaliland and SSC authorities to announce an unconditional ceasefire, Caasimada Online news website reported on Wednesday.
Local forces seeking a reunification with Somaliland deployed fresh troops in the northern outskirts of the town as they prepare for an offensive on Somaliland army base in Dhuhun area, according to the news outlet.
Both sides have been receiving reinforcements over the past weeks despite calls from the international community and Somali government for an immediate ceasefire.
