WASHINGTON (Somaliguardian) –US President Donald Trump announced he is banning the Chinese-owned video-sharing app TikTok in the US.
The president told reporters he is signing an executive order as early as Saturday to stop use of the app by US citizens.
Earlier, US security officials have raised concern that the app, owned by the Chinese firm ByteDance, could be used to collect personal data of Americans.
TokTok denied accusations, assuring its users that it is not controlled by or shares data with the Chinese government.
The fast-growing video-sharing app has more than 80 million active monthly users in America and the ban would be a major blow for ByteDance.
