At least one person killed after mortar shells land near Somalia’s presidential palace

MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – At least one person was killed after mortar shells landed near Somalia’s presidential palace in Mogadishu early on Wednesday morning, Caasimada Online news website reported.

A stray mortar bomb fell inside a house in Bondhere district near the presidential complex, killing a woman. The target of the mortar bombs, whose loud explosions have been heard throughout the city, is thought to have been the president’s residence.

There have been reports that some of the mortar shells landed on the presidential complex. No one has yet claimed responsibility.
