Somalia’s international partners voice concern about ‘risk of higher tensions’ in Garowe town

Somalia

MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s international partners on Tuesday voiced concern about risk of fresh violence in the capital of the northeastern semi-autonomous region of Puntland Garowe , where opposition continues to build up forces amid an impasse on upcoming presidential vote.

The international partners said they are “concerned about the risk of higher tensions, including the current mobilization of forces, in Garowe.”

“There is no justification for violence or the threat of force. Grievances should be addressed peacefully and through dialogue. We call on all parties to resolve their differences through peaceful means,” they added in a joint statement.
