MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Death from severe flooding in south Somalia has risen to 25 as government calls for an emergency humanitarian assistance to nearly one million people in worst-hit regions, Caasimada Online news website.
Somali deputy Prime Minister convened a meeting with Somali businesspeople in the capital Mogadishu on Monday, urging an immediate response to the unfolding crisis, warning that the situation could further deteriorate in the coming days.
Heavy rains unleashed flooding in south Somalia’s Bay, Bakol and Gedo regions, destroying homes and forcing many to flee their neighborhoods.
