MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Tuesday chaired a meeting of the National Security Council at the presidential palace which focused on issues, including efforts to enable Somali security shoulder responsibility for the security of the country after the withdrawal of African Union peacekeepers, state TV reported.
The meeting also attended by the Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre, saw discussions on the implementation of national weapons and ammunition management strategy to prevent weapons donated by the international partners to end up in the hands of Al-Shabaab, which continues to wage more than a decade-long insurgency in Somalia.
