Death toll from flooding in south Somalia rises to 42 – official

MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Death toll from flooding caused by heavy rains in south Somalia has increased to 42, forcing more than 600,000 people to flee from their homes, Caasimada Online news website reported.

An official with the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SODMA) said more than a million people have been impacted by the flooding as rain waters continue to inundate a number of towns.

Shabelle and Juba Rivers have burst their banks in a number of cities, including Baladweyne, Dolow, Bardere and Luq.
