Somalia’s ex-president condemns fighting between federal, regional troops in Barawe town

Somalia

MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s former President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed on Wednesday condemned fighting between members of the Somali army and Southwest regional troops over the control of the coastal town of Barawe.

The former President said it was unfortunate that troops meant restore order had been involved in infighting in Barawe while Al-Shabaab controls villages just on the outskirts of the coastal city.

He called on the federal government and Southwest authorities to immediately resolve differences over who should control the town to prevent further loss of life.
