MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – The daughter of Afghanistan’s ambassador to Pakistan was briefly kidnapped and “severely tortured” in Islamabad, the Afghan government said on Saturday.
SilSila Alikhil was on her way home when she was abducted, held for several hours and “severely tortured”, Afghan foreign ministry said in a statement, without providing further details into the assault in Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad.
She is now receiving medical care at a hospital in Islamabad “after being released from the kidnapper’s captivity”, Afghan foreign ministry added, calling for an investigation into the incident.
Pakistan’s foreign ministry said it had been informed that Ms. Alikhil had been assaulted while riding in a rented vehicle and that police were investigating the “disturbing incident”.
