HARGEISA (Somaliguardian) – Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi on Saturday played down security threats from an armed rebel group against his administration that had established a base in Sahil region and attributed its emergence to the current political crisis in the break-away region.
Speaking at a ceremony in Hargeisa, Bihi said his government will spare no effort to bring those who had taken up arms to the negotiating table, adding that tensions will end after elections are held.
It comes hours after local media reported that clashes between the rebel group and Somaliland army broke out in Ga’an Libah Mountain in Sahil region, though details were scarce.
