MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre is considering sacking the Minister of Trade Jibril Abdirashid who has recently told a parliamentary committee that he will only employ his relatives, citing the country’s clan-based power-sharing system, Caasimada Online news website reported on Thursday.
The comments, which triggered a social media backlash, exposed the government’s nepotism-based employment system amid an anti-corruption crackdown launched by authorities.
