Rector of Somali National University says was sacked over anti-corruption fight

MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – The rector of Somali National University Omar Mahad-Alle said on Sunday he was sacked by President Hassan Sheikh over his fight against corruption.

Speaking to Universal Somali TV, he alleged that officials at the university and others collaborated on his dismissal in an effort to foil his continued campaign against corruption.

Omar said he had submitted the list of a number of university officials involved in corruption and abuse of office to the auditor-general just days before his dismissal, raising concerns that they will hamper the progress of the country’s only public education institution.
