MOGADISH (Somaliguardian) – Members of Puntland regional security forces staging mutiny over unpaid salaries seized a police station in the capital of the Somali federal member state Garowe and blocked traffic, Garowe Online news website reported on Wednesday.
The mutiny continues for the second in a row amid political campaigns by parties contesting in an upcoming regional presidential election.
It came days after soldiers closed a key highway linking the central Somali town of Galkayo to the capital Mogadishu in protest over unpaid salaries. Authorities have not yet commented on the developments.
