MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Monday denied accusations that he had seized executive powers for the Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre.
Speaking in a televised town hall, Mohamud said his office only provides recommendations guiding the day-to-day operations of the cabinet but does not interfere in the work of the Prime Minister and ministers.
Asked about his government’s request for thousands of non-ATMIS foreign troops, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud said Ethiopian, Kenyan and Djiboutian forces scheduled to arrive in the country will withdraw after completing their task of fighting Al-Shabaab within 90 days.
