MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Saturday met European Union diplomats at the heavily-fortified Halane base in Mogadishu, Somali presidential office said.
The President briefed EU ambassador to Somalia Tina Intelman and ambassadors from a number of European countries about his government’s achievements in the fight against Al-Shabaab rebels, promising that his administration is committed to eliminating militants and completing the constitution.
Mohamud also asked the EU for fresh financial and military support amid an ongoing US-backed offensive in the central Somali regions of Galmudug and Hirshabelle.
