Somalia’s PM Makes First Trip to Egypt

Somalia PM

MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s prime minister Mohamed Hussein Roble on Monday departed from the capital Mogadishu on his first trip to Egypt after receiving an invitation from the Egyptian president Abdel Fattah el-Sisi amid efforts to strengthen the two counties’ diplomatic relations.

Mr. Roble accompanied a delegation of government officials, including ministers left Adan Adde international airport for Egypt’s capital, Cairo.

The prime minister is due to meet Egyptian government officials to discuss bilateral and regional issues as the Horn of Africa country heads to parliamentary and presidential polls.

It comes a week after Somali premier held talks with Kenyan president during a state visit to Kenya and discussed a number of issues, months after Qatar-sponsored mediation led to a thaw in diplomatic relations between the countries.

Mohamed Hussein Roble is also expected to meet with members of the Somali diaspora community in Cairo before wrapping up his trip to the north African country.
