At Least 3 Dead in Gun Attack in Central Somalia

Somalia

MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – At least three people were killed and more than two others wounded when gunmen opened fire at a Khat market in central Somali on Friday night, police and local officials have confirmed.

Unidentified gunmen attacked Khat kiosks in the center of the town of Dhusamareb in central Somalia on Friday night and killed at least three civilians in what local officials described as a “barbaric assault”.

No one has immediately claimed responsibility and there have been reports that the incident is related to a clan vendetta.

A spokesman for regional authorities said on Friday night troops were searching for those behind the deadly shooting and would soon bring the perpetrators to justice.

He did not say whether the incident was over a clan dispute and who was responsible for the assault, but sent condolences to the families who lost their loved ones as a result of the gun attack.
