MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – A delegation led by Somali Minister of Post and Telecommunications Jama Hassan Khalif has arrived in the town of Lasanod amid ongoing fighting between Somaliland troops and local forces seeking a reunification with Somalia.
Khalif held meeting with local authorities discussing efforts to end the months-long conflict and ways to provide assistance to residents of the city who had been displaced by the war.
It is the first delegation from the Somali federal government to arrive in the town since the conflict erupted months ago. The officials are set to visit public buildings and other areas destroyed during artillery shells exchanged by the warring sides.
