MOGADISHU (Somaliguardian) – Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Monday said he had reversed a decision by his predecessor Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo to strip former Mogadishu police commander of military rank and benefits.
Sadaq John opposed an attempt by former President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo to extend his term last year when he was fired and had military rank and benefits stripped.
“President of the FGS Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, in a presidential decree, restored all the Somali Police ranks and benefits of Brigadier General Sadaq John, in accordance with the 87th and 90th articles of the Provisional Constitution,” Somali President’s office said.
Former deputy boss of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) Abdalla Abdalla, who was fired after alleging a nexus between former spy chief Fahad Yasin and Al-Shabaab, is expected to be the next former official to have his ranks restored, according to the Minister of the Interior.
